Additional Information

Our Disability Awareness Training module gives an excellent introduction to all employees and management in an area where many feel uncomfortable and uncertain but overwhelmingly want to get things right. The aim of this training is to help your employees to be more confident in their day-to-day dealings with disabled people.

Apart from understanding your moral obligations, there's also the legal side to think about. The Equality Act 2010 is in full operation yet many people do not understand the implications this has for disabled people, their families, service providers and employers.

Here's what the Equo Disability Awareness Training covers:
  • What is disability?

  • The different types of disability

  • Legislation regarding customers and disability discrimination

  • Legislation regarding employees and disability discrimination

  • Practical advice on how to meet the needs of disabled people whether they are customers or colleagues.

We also have versions of the training for:

Don't worry, our Disability Awareness Training module isn't designed to catch your employees out and it's certainly not meant to be anything more than a basic introduction to Disability Awareness. However, we will also provide sources of additional information should they wish to learn more about disability.

When your employees have finished the training they will be more self-assured and, therefore, able to give disabled people the same high-level of service that they undoubtedly give to everyone else.

Reviews for Equo Ltd.

"Crawley Borough Council has in the past received a few complaints regarding taxi drivers refusing to carry disabled passengers, charging more for wheelchairs etc. so Crawley decided to introduce online Disability Awareness Training and Equo were chosen as they have the most knowledge of disability awareness which was vital in supplying our applicants with the appropriate training. Since this training was introduced we have had no complaints regarding the drivers who have completed the training. Equo are very supportive, friendly and knowledgeable in helping to set up the online training and it has been an extremely easy process from beginning to end. The Equo system is now used on a weekly basis and has saved the Council a lot of time in officer hours as we can now undertake 7 applicants at one time."
Bill Nailen, Licensing Officer with Crawley Borough Council - February 2015

"I have just finished the e-learning Disability Awareness training and wanted to feedback how fantastic I thought the course was. The training is ideally suited to businesses that wish to ensure their staff are able to interact with disabled customers. I learnt a great deal from the course and it made me consider many aspects of dealing with disabled people that I had not considered before. The format was great and the multiple choice questions at the end of each section really helped to reinforce my learning. I was also able to complete the training on my phone, which meant I was able to complete sections at a time convenient to me. I would highly recommend this course."
April Kingsley, Managing Director, Child Friendly Matters Ltd. - May 2015

"I have no hesitation in recommending the Equo online disability awareness training. Even with my experience it highlighted certain areas that I need to address…"
